One Reason For The BLS To Fudge The Numbers

The White House needed a positive economic message, so the BLS delivered.

The jobs report suggested the United States has entered a new phase in its recovery from the pandemic. And it capped something of a comeback week for the president.

Of course, it had to make up a few numbers to paper over an increase in the number of unemployed, with no change in the 5.7 million Americans not in the labor force who want a job.

But, hey, the White House got a positive news cycle, which is what really matters, right?
